More on Iron Man 2 Jim Rhodes replacement
I've just finished watching the IRON MAN film. It's November, and the film was released back in May, but, what can I say? I haven't felt the urge to search out the film to see what all the fuss is about. Well, I watched it the other day, and do you know what? Pisses all over the Hulk. Both Hulks. Brilliant. I love what Favs has done with it, and I really want to see where the second film goes... which brings me nicely onto this article. It seems that a recent article in Entertainment Weekly made a few minor errors regarding Terrence Howard's replacement in the form of Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes in IRON MAN 2.
The EW article said that due to the over-sized paycheck and disputes with Howard over his role of Rhodes in the first film, director Jon Favreau was thinking of curtailing the character in the second's story and that a reduced salary offer rejected by Howard's people lead to Cheadle taking over the role.
Howver, IRON MAN 2 writer Justin Theroux said: "I can only tell you what I know which is that from a writing standpoint we didn’t do anything differently [with the character]. It’s not like we were sitting there going, we need less of this or that. We just approached the characters and the story on their own terms...Rhodes is completely present in a very strong and big way…He’s COMPLETELY present."
Glad we got that cleared up then. IRON MAN 2 will be released in 2010.
